“Thoughts and Prayers”

Every time there is a massacre or tragedy, the internet lights up with "thoughts and prayers;" which is now the most utterly useless phrase in the English language. Utterly bloody useless, meaningless, and so wretchedly ineffectual it is almost insulting. And it is the prevalance of that phrase which insults, because it suggests no one has an original thought, or response, and can only bleat a vapid cloud of nouns that mean nothing. If you have nothing to say, say nothing. You are not responsible for commenting on every tragedy. Commenting on tragedy is little more than arrogance and sometimes it's better to just shut up.
